better late then never

Okay,
So life happens...I guess it has been awhile since I wrote last...so here is a quick update:

Number1Son is now in driver's ed, lookout!!!!
HomebodySon is now in middle school-where does time go

I am still subbing although with the teacher layoffs at the end of last year it was a slow start and not to mention I had foot surgery right before Thanksgiving that kept me off my feet for about 4 weeks. Happily I can say I am slowly jumping back into my groove with the new year!

On the home front, I decided with limited funds and limited mobility, I was not going to get into the shopping frenzy that we always seem to get into every year. I think we purchased a few gifts here and their but I made or put together pretty much everything else. Including a 4 picture series of pictures I drew in tribute of Advent. They were so good, at least I thougtht so, I recreated the first one on about half of our Christmas cards and put all four in miniture on the top of our Christmas letter. Not bad for someone who got a hitch in her craw about comercialism. I think I am just proud of myself for finally sticking to that commitment. Anywho, the outcome was one of the least stressful Christmas' I have ever had!!! Yipppeee!

Oh, maybe it has something to do with the fact that we left the church of my childhood. Not an easy feet. Unfortunately, the church as a whole elected during their convention to allow actively gay folks to hold positions of leadership in the church. Okay, got a small problem with that as we as a family believe that it is a sin and we cannot justify someone who is actively sinning being a spiritual leader in the church...doesn't compute...My mom is a bit sad about this as she is the only one from our family still attending. No worries on our part, we don't expect her to leave her friends, it is just after much prayer and thought, God has called us to a new church. We weren't alone in this endeaver as there were three other families who felt that even though our church was not actively seeking to follow the path that the ELCA has choosen, the pastors would not take a stance either way and when we did sit down with the lead pastor he did say that he would continue to encourage controversy in the church so that we would "wrestle" with the hard issues-sorry not going to go there! So after checking our many, many, many churches we have found one that we all seem to be comfortable with. I myself am feeling tremendous spiritual growth (enough to want to create those pictures for hubby's Christmas present). Wow you've come a long way baby! We are in a bible study group with about 8 other couples and really are feeling at home with this church. I think it helped that HomebodySon's godparents are also a member of the new church and have apparently been praying that we come to their church for years...funny thing prayer...
